Support for Students with Disabilities (PwDs) of all studies cycles: Counselors of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)

The Department of Physics of the University of Ioannina welcomes students with disabilities (PwDs) and makes every effort to ensure their equal active participation in all academic processes for our students. In this context, it assists in the accessibility and social support unit for equal access to all its students in the educational process and academic life. The Department of Physics facilitates students with special educational needs to complete their course in time and successfully, while aiming to immediately and effectively solve the problems they face in their academic daily lives.

At the session 1028/37/3-3-2016 of the Senate, a committee was set up, chaired by one of the Vice-Rectories, with the aim of supporting and shaping good practices to deal with the difficulties facing students with the disabled of the University of Ioannina.

The Department of Physics, as every year, for the academic year 2020-2021 has appointed (General Meeting 534/21-September-2020) a PwDs Commission represented by Professor Panagiota Kanti (PwDs Councelor). Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact her on specific issues related to their studies. The PwDs Councelor is the link that connects students with disabilities to the entire teaching staff as well as with the University of Ioannina’s Social Support and Accessibility Unit. In addition, the PwDs Councelor informs and tries to raise awareness of all students in the department to voluntarily support students with special needs in their studies.

The Department of Physics also has an administrative officer in the secretariat, Ms. V. Grigoropoulou, who is responsible for the administrative support of Students with Disabilities (Department of Physics, Transitional Building, tel. 26510-7490, email: gramphys@uoi.gr.
