The Administrative Bodies of the Department are the Head of the Department, the General Assembly of the Department, the Directors of the Sections and the General Assemblies of the Sections. The Head of the Department is elected by the Professors and the serving Lecturers of the Department via a direct, secret, global election and serves for two years. The Directors of the Sections are elected every year by the members of the Sections. The Assembly of the Department consists of the Professors and the serving Lecturers of the Department, one representative, per category, of the members of the Special Educational Personnel (SEP), of the members of the Laboratory Teaching Personnel (LTP) and of the members of the Special Technical Laboratory Personnel (STLP), as well as two representatives of the students of the Department (an undergraduate and a graduate one).

The participation of the professors and lecturers to the General Assembly of the Department takes place through representatives (30 in number) which are elected on annual basis by a secret voting. The representatives of the members of the Special Educational Personnel (SEP), of the Laboratory Teaching Personnel (LTP) and of the members of the Special Technical Laboratory Personnel (STLP) are elected by a direct, global and secret voting among their corresponding members. The representatives of the students are elected by the ensembles of the corresponding active students, via a joint ballot and a direct, global and secret voting.

The Committees of the Department, which are formed by the Head for the study and implementation of certain issues of the Department, also assist in the administrative work.
