Pedagogical and Teaching Competence
Pedagogical and Teaching Competence of the Department of Physics, University of Ioannina
Since the academic year 2019-2020 the Physics Department of the University of Ioannina, has established a group of courses that lead to the acquisition of a Certificate on Pedagogy and Teaching Competence as part of its Undergraduate Program. The group of the courses is addressed to the students of the Physics Department.
Students admitted until 2014-2015 as well as former graduates of the Department of Physics are not subject to the requirements of the Certified Pedagogical and Teaching Competency. The Degree in Physics from the Physics Department of the Univ. of Ioannina automatically holds validity also as a Certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competence.
Students admitted from the 2015-2016 academic year up to 2023-2024 are subject to the requirements of the Certified Pedagogical and Teaching Competency Obligation. These students may, if they wish, to obtain a Certificate of Education and Teaching Competence separately from their degree.
In order to obtain the Pedagogical and Teaching Competence Certificate, students of the Department must successfully attend the courses of the Undergraduate Program listed in the Table below.

Note on the ECTS
A student can follow both courses in Educational Psychology and Educational Sociology. However, only the ECTS of one of the two courses will count towards the 240 ECTS of the degree. The second course can be listed in the Diploma Supplement.
The same is true of the three courses New technologies in the teaching of Physical Sciences, History and Philosophy of Physical Sciences, and Didactic Methodology. Only the ECTS of one of the three courses will count towards the 240 ECTS of the degree. The other courses may be listed in the Diploma Supplement.
